Jesus is the Light Within

Today we proclaim with Joy and Peace on the International Day of Light that JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

The following song I wrote some 26 years ago inspired by the expectant church here in the UK of Christ's soon return. Oh that we can keep that flame of expectancy alight still, with our lamps trimmed and bright, let us not grow weary for the Groom who is Christ, yes that He is coming for His bride!

Jesus is the Light Within

Jesus is the light within,

Shining through you and me,

He's the one who set us free

On the day that He died on Calvary

From shorelands and moorlands to the mountains and hills,

Within cities and towns and villages around,

The Lord's Spirit now flows across the land
As He asks His children to join hand in hand
To bring the good news, to all of mankind,

Such sorrow and darkness, bitterness and pain,

So many in need, for His riches to gain

Let us share in His name that they can believe,
And open our hearts that they may receive,
Jesus our saviour, the Light of the World

We know not the day or the hour He'll appear,
But the Lord He is coming, His time is near;
Prepare for He'll come like a thief in the night,
Place oil in your lamp, keep it trimmed and bright,
For the bridegroom is coming, to meet His bride.
