Today is the 1st of July and for the next 4 days right up to Independence Day, for each new day we will have a new psalm in sequence. Each psalm is a step forward in the eventual conclusion of sojourning. This, for the pilgrim, concludes in arriving at the temple in Jerusalem, with one final step in Praise and worship that lifts and ascends to the throne of God in Heaven. There are actually 15 Psalms that form the complete collection of Psalms for the Song of Ascent, but essentially it is the first four Psalms (120 - 123) that follow the footsteps of the pilgrims' journey to Jerusalem. How fitting that we can use these psalms now for our own reflection as we prepare for the 4th of July. For further study, I can recommend an excellent article at Enduring Word. Wednesday 1st of July - MarApril | Prayer Watch 33
Psalm 120 (KJV) A Song of Degrees.1In my distressI cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.2Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips,And from a deceitful tongue.3What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?4Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.5Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech,That I dwell in the tents of Kedar!6My soul hath long dweltWith him that hateth peace.7I am for peace:But when I speak, they are for war.
